Teen Patti Sideshow Rules: How to Request, Accept, or Refuse

The teen patti sideshow is a private card comparison between two consecutive seen players. A seen player may request a sideshow from the player who bet immediately before them. If accepted, both players compare cards privately — the weaker hand folds immediately, without showing cards to anyone else at the table.

When You Can Request a Sideshow

• You must be a seen player — you have already looked at your cards

• The player immediately before you in the betting order must also be a seen player

• You request the sideshow before placing your own bet for that round

• You cannot request a sideshow when only two players remain — at that point the hand is already heads-up

What Happens After a Sideshow Request

If the challenged player accepts:

• Both players reveal their cards to each other only — no other player sees the comparison

• The player with the weaker hand folds immediately

• If both hands are equal in rank, the player who requested the sideshow folds

If the challenged player refuses:

• The sideshow does not happen

• The player who requested it must either place a chaal bet or fold — they cannot force the comparison

Sideshow Hand Rankings

The comparison uses standard Teen Patti hand rankings from strongest to weakest:

1. Trail — three of a kind (strongest)

2. Pure Sequence — three consecutive cards of the same suit

3. Sequence — three consecutive cards of mixed suits

4. Color — three cards of the same suit, not consecutive

5. Pair — two cards of the same rank

6. High Card — none of the above (weakest)

When to Request a Sideshow

• Request when you hold a strong hand and want to eliminate the player before you without revealing your cards to the rest of the table

• Use it to narrow the field early before the pot grows too large

• Avoid requesting with a marginal hand — if refused, you must bet or fold with nothing gained

When to Refuse a Sideshow

• Refuse when your hand is weak — refusal keeps you in the game for at least one more round

• Refusal forces the requester to bet or fold, giving you information about their confidence

• If the pot is already large, refusal costs you nothing and buys another round
